Women in Trades Summit

FMANM Supports NM’s

Women in Trades Summit

Three members of the Board of Directors of the Facility Manager Association of New Mexico participated in the first rally focused on recognizing, mentoring, and recruiting women to participate in the skilled trades which sustain our buildings.  Nationally fewer people are entering these occupations and the shortage of workers has created a need to spotlight the careers which are available for both men and women.

Among the keynote speakers was Sarah Thomas, an American football authority whose credits include being the first woman to join the National Football League as a full-time female official.  Held at the Central New Mexico Community College campus, an estimated 500 people attended what is projected to become a yearly event.
